Our Commitment

Sage is committed to ensuring that sagelivings.com is accessible to people with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards so that our platform can be used by as many people as possible, including those who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, voice control, or keyboard-only navigation.

Conformance Status

Sage is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standards. We are actively working to improve conformance across all pages and features.

Known Limitations

We are aware of the following areas that may not meet full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance:

  • Interactive map: The Mapbox GL JS map used on our search page has limited keyboard navigation support. We provide a list view of all results as an alternative.
  • Photo gallery lightbox: Focus management when opening and closing the full-screen photo gallery may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 criterion 2.4.3 (Focus Order). We are working to address this in a future update.
  • Third-party content: Some community-submitted photos may lack descriptive alt text. We ask providers to supply alt text and are working to enforce this requirement.

What We’ve Done

  • Semantic HTML5 landmarks and heading hierarchy throughout the site
  • Sufficient color contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for body text)
  • All interactive elements are keyboard-accessible
  • Form inputs have associated labels
  • Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements
  • Modal dialogs trap focus and return focus on close
  • ARIA labels on icon-only buttons (close, search, favorites)
